Iroto school of Hotel and Catering forms part of a bigger Project called the Iroto Rural Development Project. It was established in 2005 with the goal of giving hospitality training to young girls from the rural community of Iroto and its surrounding areas. It has enabled them to obtain employment and opened up opportunities to improve their living conditions. Prior to the school’s opening, most girls from this environment were unemployed due to lack of the necessary skills which can only be acquired from further education beyond secondary schooling.  This was costly and unaffordable for the family. Thus the girls were prone to early marriages or joined the teeming population of unemployed with gloomy prospects.

The school offers a two-year certificate program in Hotel and Catering. It also serves as a training centre for those working toward the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), an internationally recognized certificate. Apart from their academic work, the students are actively engaged in community development outreach, thus, enhancing the social impact of the school in the surrounding villages.

Iroto School of Hotel and Catering is located in the village of Iloti, near Ijebu-Ode, about one and half hour drive from Lagos. It is annex to the Iroto Conference Centre, which began in early 1986 and caters to the needs of many professionals who attend various activities there.
